My name is John Caruso and I am your humble writer here at PursuitOfGreat.com.

First, let me share a secret with you.

I hate writing “About Me” pages.

I have procrastinated about this, have produced some really average versions, and at times just pretended like it didn’t exist.

But they say you need to have one of these, so here I am writing in protest.

It’s not the worst thing in the world, obviously, but as someone who puts his efforts into helping others through writing, expressing ideas and concepts that can hopefully improve lives or advance our state in the world, I would hope that who I am shines through in what you read here.

So I’ll try to keep this short and simple.

I have no fancy degrees, unless you consider journalism fancy.

I have no credentials in, frankly, any of the fields I write about: nutrition, social/public policy, personal finance, etc.

What I do have, however, is an intense understanding of the importance of all these things.

I also have an intense understanding that each of these fields are overflowing with clickbait and misleading information on the internet.

So, I decided to tackle a number of these issues in a way a journalist, rather than an ideologue, would.

Every time I sit down to write, I confront and tackle my own biases. I test my beliefs against the results of the science to see what stands up and what doesn’t.

I don’t run with wild claims. I tell you when you should be wary of results. I try to poke holes in any claims that do not stand up.

And I also write my fair share of opinion pieces, because this is my website and I can do what I want.

But most of all, I aim to inspire, motivate, and provide whatever tools I can discover to help all of us live the best lives possible.

It’s an ongoing search, and I’m glad you are here for it with me.

Join me on the Pursuit of Great.

-John
